Statement from Speaker Oliva on Appointment of Majority Leader Dane Eagle to DEO

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Sept. 2, 2020) — Today Majority Leader Dane Eagle tendered his resignation to the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, effective Sept. 11. Leader Eagle was tapped by Governor Ron DeSantis to lead the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). Speaker Jose Oliva issued the following statement in response: 

“Dane Eagle is a principled leader and public servant, and he cares deeply about people. His past eight years in the Florida House have prepared him well to take on this vital role during these challenging times as we look to get back on the path to economic prosperity. I am confident that Dane will lead DEO with great integrity and care, and I wish him all the best in this new chapter of public service.”
